BUSINESS DIRECTOR

 

The Business Director will work closely with the Head of Studio Black Tomato, Strategy Director and Content Director (also hiring) on the four-person management team of Studio Black Tomato. Commercially driven, entrepreneurial and a mentor, the Business Director will oversee the account team’s output across the business. They will be able to nurture the team, grow client accounts, set the creative agenda, understand clients’ commercial challenges and build a cultural connection with the work.

The Business Director will set an example, inspiring a great team and ultimately growing the business.

Job Purpose:

• Oversee the professional growth of the account team and commercial growth of accounts at Studio Black Tomato
• Set the standard for positive team behaviour, manage team wellbeing, development and progress of wider team.
• Apply key marketing theories and business thinking to strategic and creative progression and output
• Hold strong relationships at director, partner and management level
• Commitment to diverse client portfolio straddling different industry verticals.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understand the role of senior management and leverage the coaching role played at the right time, with the right preparation
• Build culturally resonant brands that enable business growth, for both Studio Black Tomato and our clients
• Be clear on driving and shaping creative process, feeling empowered to sell brave work and confident in educating clients on the importance of ambitious work
• Ensure cultural ambition lives through all work
• Be a trusted advisor to client at brand director level, able to elicit an appreciation of craft
• Confident and persuasive presenter, taking clients at brand director level and above through comms strategy and creative response
• Take responsibility for making the agency profitable and growing revenue streams
• Know the clients business so well that you are confident challenging the agency or client’s strategic direction.
• Client relationship strategy to drive cultural ambition for the work. Sets the direction for cultural opportunities and attends key events/experiences with clients

Qualifications:
• 7+ years’ experience in client services / account handling at an agency or studio
• Knowledge of creative processes and content creation with a multidisciplinary approach
• Good grasp of business, the ability to speak confidently with C-Suite employees / owners client-side
• Extremely high emotional intelligence, people-person, manages expectations well
• Expert prioritization skills with ability to champion creative team to produce high-quality deliverables on time
• Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills (verbal & written)
• Attune to trends in the media, able to update the team on new opportunities and talk confidently about the industry as a whole, potentially acting as a spokesperson for the agency
• Works well with junior talent, training, advising and upskilling the account team
• Ideally creative experience / background (inside / outside of work)

PROJECT MANAGER

 

Work closely with Head of Studio Black Tomato to optimize project management, improve process and workflow, and allocate resources for the creative team. This position is responsible for managing and improving agency processes, project workflows and deadlines for the creative team and overseeing account budgets, cost sheets and invoicing.

The Project Manager should be an inspired and astute character who is skilful at managing relationships, while always preserving the creative team’s mission and focus. This person must have strong communication skills, be incredibly organized, and maintain a level of respect and education to others on the creative process. We are looking for someone that will be a true team player and a natural creative problem solver.

Job Purpose:

• Work with Head of Studio and Business Director to optimize creative team resources, workflow and client administration.
• Provide organisational, logistical and operational support for the creative team.
• Build efficient processes for creative execution of projects.
• Oversee bandwidth of the creative team workload and provide resourcing depending on organizational needs.
• Manage improvement of effective processes.
• Management of budgets (aiding account managers), oversight of total delivery workflow, cost sheets, expenses, time tracking and invoicing.
Mentorship of Account Managers and Account Executives

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the execution and logistics of creative projects from start to finish
• Help manage suppliers and freelancers to achieve business goals and needs
• Oversee budgets for large scale projects including staffing and resources
• Expert knowledge in project management methodology and process
• Identify best practices for project requirements, estimations, and timelines
• Resolve issues, manage risks, and develop detailed plans for strong execution
• Schedule, run, and organize team meetings and promote productivity
• Establish, manage, and perform resourcing allocation and forecast spreadsheets
• Maintain alignment in communication with suppliers and partners
• Monitor creative team needs to provide support for brand and team growth

Qualifications:
• 3+ years’ experience in production, staffing and project management at an agency or studio
• Knowledge of creative processes and content creation with a multidisciplinary approach
• High emotional intelligence, people-person, manages expectations well
• Expert prioritization skills with ability to champion creative team to produce high-quality deliverables on time
• Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills (verbal & written)
• Ability to understand and thrive in a face-paced media environment
